From the Archive: Orange Agate With a Fortress in the Middle

Submitted by admin on
Teardrop-shaped agate pendant with a rusty orange rim, nested angular cream and tan bands, and a small peach-colored center, on a silver-tone bail and snake chain, against a black background

Agate collectors call this pattern fortification, because the bands step inward at sharp angles like walls around a keep. Rusty orange rim, layer after layer of cream and tan inside it, and a little peach-colored core right in the middle. It's no longer available, so this one is just for looking.
